Frank Atchison Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 14, 2024.
Frank Atchison, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in Galveston Texas. He was born on October 23, 1941 in Maryville, Tennessee to Frank and Margaret Atchison. Frank was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a zest for living.
Frank graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1965 with a Bachelors Degree of Science. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and ETSU Army ROTC.
When his nation called, Frank answered by enlisting in the United States Army in 1965, beginning a distinguished four-year military career. During his service, Frank was deployed to the Dominican Republic and then to Vietnam, where he demonstrated remarkable courage and leadership in the face of adversity.
Frank's exemplary service did not end with his military discharge from the Army. He went on to join the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). As a CIA operative, Frank returned to Vietnam, where he played a crucial role in intelligence operations.
In 1980, Frank moved his family to Corpus Christi, Texas, during the vibrant Texas oil boom. It was here that he began his career as a Landman, navigating the complexities of the oil industry with skill and determination. His journey took another turn in 1987 when he became a sales representative for Allstate Insurance, a move that would define the next chapter of his professional life.
In 1989, Frank and his family relocated to Houston, Texas. Three years later, in 1992, he opened the Frank Atchison Agency under the Allstate umbrella. Over the course of 22 successful years, Frank built his agency into a trusted and respected business, ultimately retiring and proudly passing the reins to his sons, Ryan and Taylor.
Frank's life was rich with passions and hobbies. A devoted fan of Tennessee Football, his spirited chants of "Go Vols" were a staple of his weekends. Despite the scorching Texas summers, Frank could often be found on the golf course, reveling in the game he loved. Family time was paramount to Frank, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, whether swimming, enjoying an evening sip of Jack Daniels, or attending his grandson Connor's high school football games.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Anne Atchison, sister Becky Fleenor, brother-in-law Bill Fleenor, sons Ryan Anthony Atchison and Frank Taylor Atchison III, daughters-in-law Theresa Marie Atchison and Autumn Dawn Mullen, his beloved grandson Connor Thomas Atchison, and numerous friends and family members who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held on Saturday July 13, 2024 at 9:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, 18300 Upper Bay Road, Houston Texas 77058. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation www.t2.t.org in honor of Frank's memory.
Frank Atchison will be remembered for his remarkable career, his love for his family, and his unwavering spirit. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Frank. You will be deeply missed.

I´ve known Frank for 35 years. We were agents at Allstate. He was my sales manager for awhile. We´ve played golf at South Shore Harbour in League City for many years. Frank had many golf friends that will miss his company. To Carolyn, Ryan, and Taylor I am sorry for your loss!
