Colaprete, Frank A. Ed.D.
Greece: Born November 5, 1962, in Rochester, New York. He passed on September 16, 2023, at age 60 after a brief illness. Frank is survived by his wife, Katherine; his sister-in-law Angela Brown; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his beloved dogs, Lady and Zeus; his cats, Kitty and Gypsy; many friends and former co-workers. Frank is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald Faraone, Richard and Donna Schwartzmeyer, Virginia DeGruchy, and Sharon Baker.
Frank is looking forward to being reunited with the family which predeceased him, especially his father, Frank L. Colaprete; brother, Stephen E. Brown; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rose Mary and Joseph C. Schwartzmeyer; sister-in- law, Marie Faraone; brother-in-law, Edward Schwartzmeyer.
A lifelong Rochester area resident, Frank grew up in the city, helping his father in the automotive collision business before proudly becoming a Rochester Police Officer. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family, his beloved dogs and cats, and enjoyed travelling. He especially enjoyed the change of seasons as the bountiful colors of the changing leaves were a reminder of the beautiful world we have around us.
Frank deeply believed in the Police profession as a noble service to his community and the Lord. Frank held many positions within the department and rose through the ranks to retire as a Lieutenant after serving over 20 years in the department. Frank held many positions within the department serving in the patrol division, background unit, investigative division, and various command positions.
Frank was passionate to help others achieve their personal goals, by encouraging, mentoring, and assisting many Officers throughout their careers. Frank was among the few in the profession to achieve a Doctoral Degree as he consistently and relentlessly pursued excellence and higher education.
Frank became a respected college professor, teaching at several prestigious colleges and universities nationwide. Frank designed, wrote, and published many curriculums at various colleges. An accomplished author, Frank used his experience and expertise to publish several police related textbooks on criminal and internal investigations. These textbooks have continued to educate and assist many in the criminal justice field.
Dr. Colaprete has been recognized with many prestigious awards for his work from various educational and police organizations nationwide, including the prestigious Webber Seavey Award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
No prior calling. On Friday, September 22, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N. Greece Road. Entombment will be private. It was Frank's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450 (www.lollypop.org).
