Frank Berry DeLay, Jr., age 85, of Shelbyville, TN, passed from this life on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN, with his family by his side.
Born on September 15, 1940, in Saint Petersburg, FL, he was the son of the late Frank Buck DeLay, Sr., and Alma Vale Parnell DeLay. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Ann DeLay, and brother in law, Sonny Groves.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-six years, Mary Lois Butts DeLay; children: Susan Marie (Michael Cowdery) DeLay of California, Beverly Joyce (John) Bayne of Shelbyville, John Berry (Cindy) DeLay of Florida, and Michael Randy (Tanya) DeLay of Arizona; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Martha DeLay Groves of Florida; four nephews; and sister-in-law Patsy Fike.
Frank was known as a true "jack of all trades" throughout his working years. His career included serving as a manager for Little General, working in maintenance at Barnett Bank and JC Penney, carpentry with PJ Callahan, and tree trimming for Fort Desoto Park. He was also a talented musician who enjoyed playing the organ, accordion, and drums. His hobbies included building model train sets, camping, and staying active in church life. Frank was a faithful member of Tullahoma Church of God Prophecy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, in the chapel of Doak Howell Funeral Home with Pastor William Prichett officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Visitation with the family will be held Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church of God of Prophecy, P.O. Box 1414, Tullahoma, TN 37388.
