Frank Filippone Obituary

Frank Filippone, Sr, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 16, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 67 years young.

Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph Andrew Filippone and Salvadora DeBartolo on September 25, 1957. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Louise; his brother, Joseph (Patti) and sister, Marie; two sons, Frankie (Rachel), and Jason (Krista); three daughters, Dora (Jonathan), Nicole (Mike), and Trulee (John); grandchildren Morgan, Angela, Madison, Alex, Brayden, Ryleigh, Richard, Avery, and Andrew, with two great-grandchildren due next year; and many nieces and nephews.

As a teenager, Frank joined the U.S. Navy and worked his way up from the lowest-ranked sailor and retired after 30 years as one of the most respected officers in the service-Chief Warrant Officer 4. During those years, in addition to subjects related to seamanship and navigation, he studied and attained skills in leadership and management. And he became a leader.

When it came time to retire from the Navy, he was not ready to give up serving others. He chose a career in real estate as a good way to continue serving his fellow Americans and provided excellence in real estate service as a licensed broker for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services RW Towne Realty. Frank earned numerous REALTOR® designations, served on and chaired a variety of professional boards and committees, and received a wide assortment of awards. He was also a Master Mason in the Kempsville Masonic Lodge 196.

Family, friends, and clients would describe Frank as being patient, wise, and a good listener. He took time to make sure everyone around him felt seen, loved, and valued, always going the extra mile to provide excellent service and care.
Frank, called "Pepere," by his grandchildren, loved spending quality time with his family and friends, taking an interest in things that were important to them. You would often find him playing golf or at the shooting range with his sons and grandkids or stopping by to check on his daughters with a Starbucks drink in hand.

There will be a time of visitation on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm for friends and family.

A celebration of Frank's life will be held at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake, on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Whitfield officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at 2:00pm at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
