Frank A. Guerrera Jr.
"Proud U.S. Marine"
Frank A. Guerrera Jr., 94, of Waterbury, was reunited with his beloved wife in Heaven on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at The Village at East Farms in Waterbury. He was the devoted husband of the late Judith "Judy" (Casey) Guerrera, the love of his life, whom he cherished deeply and missed profoundly following her passing in 2011 after 48 years of marriage.
Frank was born in Waterbury on February 5, 1931, a son of the late Frank and Theresa (Cirelli) Guerrera.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Frank served his country honorably and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He remained immensely proud of his military service throughout his life and was a gifted storyteller, especially when sharing memories of boot camp and his time in the service-stories that family and friends will forever treasure.
Frank was a devoted and loving family man who adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beyond measure. He leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory his four children: Richard Guerrera and his wife Linda of Bethel; Kathleen Guerrera and her wife Karen of Port Jefferson Station, NY; Julie Tun of Southbury; and David Guerrera of Woodbury. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored: Jessica Doheny and her husband Chet; Casey Tun; Kylie Tun and her significant other Amy Largess; Kayleigh Guerrera and her fiancé Bryan Burke; Benjamin Tun; and Jarrett Guerrera; as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Charley, Sam and her fiancé Kelly, Kelli and her fiancé Josh. In addition, Frank leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Domenic Guerrera, Richard Guerrera, and Ann Lucas.
Frank had a lifelong love of reading and was an avid reader of non-fiction, particularly books centered on history, biographies, and anything from which he could learn. He was also a devoted New York Yankees fan.
One of Frank's greatest joys was cooking for family and friends-especially his soups, which were legendary. He took pride in his cooking and had a great sense of humor about it, never hesitating to admit when something didn't turn out quite right.
Frank's love for fishing ran deep, and fly fishing became his passion. He especially cherished time on the Housatonic River, particularly the stretch of river near the covered bridge in Cornwall. As it became harder for him to walk the river in later years, he spent more time deep sea fishing and treasured several trips each year on Long Island Sound out of Old Saybrook with his good friend, Captain Pete.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Waterbury.
