Frank Calvin Hart, 79, of Gonzales, answered the call from his Lord and Savior to come home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Frank was born July 22, 1946 in Lavaca County to Marshall and Dorothy Evans Hart. He was a member of Faith Family Church and the Gonzales VFW. Frank was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, humility, and love for his family.
Frank was one of eight children-two sisters and six brothers-and he often shared fond stories of his childhood and the many life lessons he learned growing up. From a young age, he worked alongside his family, helping wherever he was needed. Whether it was picking cotton and vegetables or working on the tractor, Frank was always willing to lend a hand. Although his family didn't own their own farm, he took pride in helping others maintain their crops to support his loved ones. These early experiences shaped him into the hardworking, grateful, and generous man we all came to know.
Throughout his life, Frank faced challenges with quiet strength and faith in God's grace. He lived humbly, always ready to help others with the many skills he had been blessed with. Among his many talents, his gift as a mechanic stood out-allowing him to provide for his family and build a secure future. In the early 1960s, Frank moved to Houston to pursue new opportunities, beginning work on a tugboat before finding his calling in the oilfield industry. He married his first wife, Annie Marie Mraz, in 1965, and together they welcomed two sons, Calvin and John Hart. In 1969, Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country until 1971. In 1973, Frank married Doris Fortune, adopting her son Elvis as his own, and together they had three daughters: Tricia, Connie, and Lisa. Frank continued his career in the oil field before deciding to pursue work that allowed him to stay closer to home and family. He became a mechanic for Gonzales ISD, where he also drove school buses when needed, dedicating 16 years of service before retiring. Frank will be remembered as one of the hardest-working men anyone could meet-a man of deep faith, strong character, and endless generosity. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the example he set for all who knew him.
Frank Hart is survived by his loving family, wife of 52 years, Doris Elizabeth Hart, daughters, Tricia Michele Bordovsky (August), and Connie Sue Kelley (Joe Mark, III), sons, Elvis Hart (Ann Marie), Calvin Lee Hart, and John Marsall Hart (Amanda Weempe), sisters, Shirlene Kelch (Bob), and Susan Riggs (Clifford), brothers, Albert Hart (Elaine), Roger Hart, Donnie Hart (Sherri) and Larry Joe Hart, grandchildren, Olivia Alferinic, August Bordovsky, Brett Bordovsky, Clayton Kelley, Genevieve Kelley, Ripley Hart, Ashleigh Hart, Lydia Hart, Sydney Hart, Kristen Pollock and Caroline Starr. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lisa Robin Hart, brothers, Danny Ray Hart and Robert Hart.
The family will receive friends from 9 am until 10 am Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the Faith Family Church. A funeral service will follow at 10 am in the Faith Family Church with Pastor Forrest Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the Gonzales City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Calvin Hart, John Hart, Elvis Hart, Brett Bordovsky, Clayton Kelley, Joe Kelley, August D. Bordovsky, and August M. Bordovsky.
