In Loving Memory of Frank Hatler
March 23, 1936 – May 31, 2025
Francis "Frank" Leo Hatler, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and businessman, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 23, 1936, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Frank graduated from Abraham Clark High School, in Roselle, NJ, where he proudly earned varsity letters in track, football, and basketball. His competitive spirit continued into adulthood as he played fast-pitch, softball, and handball with passion and skill. He also loved his summers at Lake Cadjaw, PA with his late cousin Lou Hadden.
After serving two years in the National Guard, Frank built a thriving career in retail electronics and insurance. Known for his sharp mind, entrepreneurial drive, and natural charisma, he built strong relationships and left an impression on colleagues and customers alike.
Frank was a lifelong boxing and New York Giants football fan who lived life with gusto. He loved great food, a strong drink, and deep conversation-always ready with a story, a laugh, or a toast. A talented musician, he played both piano and accordion by ear, often filling the room with spontaneous music and joy.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Francis J. Hatler and Esther M. Hatler, and sister Nancy Donnelly. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Eileen Filipek Hatler, and his children: Michael F. Hatler, Karen M. Hatler, Douglas J. Hatler and Jennifer (Hatler) Boshnack. He was a proud grandfather to Michael Hatler, Samantha (Hatler) Dowd, Katie Hatler, Christopher Hatler, and Douglas Charles Hatler; and a joyful great-grandfather to Nora, Logan, Drew, and Patrick. He is also survived by his nephews Tony and Rick LaBracio, niece Tammy (LaBracio) Theobald, good friend Pat McAndrew, and his devoted best friend of 77 years, Al Haas.
Frank will be remembered for his warmth, wit, music, loyalty, and the deep connections he shared with everyone lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. In lieu of flowers please spen more time reflecting on and participating in the positive things in life as well as spend more time with your loved ones.
