It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Jess Hussung, aged 82, of Cold Spring, KY. Frank passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospice.
Born on August 29, 1942, in Dayton, KY, Frank was the beloved son of the late Henrietta and Jesse Hussung.
Frank leaves behind his devoted wife of 49 years, Cheryl, whose partnership and love were the foundation of their beautiful life together. He is also survived by his daughter Jackie (Greg) Gibson, son Brant (Lindsey) Hussung, stepdaughter Tracy Boden, and Chris (Stephanie) Scott. His legacy continues through his seven cherished grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Frank's life was a testament to dedication and craftsmanship. He spent an incredible 42 years working with GE Aircraft Engines, leaving a lasting mark of excellence. In his more than two decades of retirement, Frank poured his time and talents into woodworking, crafting treasured family heirlooms, and engaging in home remodeling projects. He also pursued genealogy with passion, uncovering the stories of his ancestors that he loved to share, and generously volunteered his skills and energy to enrich his community.
A man of deep commitment, Frank was a cornerstone of the Pendleton County Historical and Genealogical Society, serving as its Vice President for many years. For his dedication to the preservation of many historical parts of Pendleton county, Frank was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel as well as a Kentucky Admiral. Additionally, he acted as a director for the Bethel Cemetery Company in Butler, KY. Among his proudest achievements was the restoration of the historic Bethel Church, a labor of love undertaken with his dear friends Charlie Pyles, Billie Newman, and Obie Fardo. Frank's dedication to this four-year project-rebuilding its structure, floors, windows, and siding-breathed new life into the 1879 church, transforming it into a gathering place that fostered connection and community. The friendships he forged in the community during this endeavor were treasures he carried with him always.
Frank's kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor were constants in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His family and friends will forever cherish his steady presence and gentle guidance.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Bethel Cemetery Company in Frank's honor. Bethel Cemetery Co., Inc. Virginia Beetz - Treasurer 235 HWY 17 N Butler, KY 41006
