Frank Harold Johnston, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born on November 9, 1951, in Princeton, West Virginia, Frank lived a full and vibrant life of 73 years.

At the tender age of 16, Frank left high school to join the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country for four years. Following his honorable service, Frank embarked on a career as a paramedic on a rescue squad, dedicating his time to helping others in their moments of need. He later worked as an orderly at Virginia Beach General Hospital, where he met the love of his life, Ruby. Together, they shared 33 wonderful years of marriage until her passing.

Frank found his true calling as a heavy equipment mechanic, spending 45 years working with diesel engines. His passion for tinkering and fixing things was evident in his work and brought him great satisfaction throughout his life.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Frank's greatest joy was found on the water. Whether alone or accompanied by Ruby, their children, or grandchildren, any day spent fishing was a good day for Frank. He also enjoyed camping, although his work often kept him busy.

Frank was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Ruby Johnston, and his parents, Russell Johnston Sr. and Lois Mercer Johnston. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his daughter Angela White and her husband Carl, along with their children Kayleigh and Nathyn; his son Scott Johnston and his wife Ashley, and their children Sierra, Jameson, and Brayden. He is also survived by his sister, Nina Snapp, and his brother, Russell Johnston Jr.

A visitation will be held at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm. A graveside service with rendering of military honors will take place at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 2pm.

Frank's legacy of love, dedication, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
