Frank Kamlowsky Obituary

Frank J. Kamlowsky

October 26, 1931 - December 24, 2025

Frank J. Kamlowsky, 94, of Sun City, Ariz., passed away on December 24, 2025. He was born on October 26, 1931, in Billings, Mont., to Frank Kamlowsky and Laura Eaton Kamlowsky.

Frank grew up in Billings, where his lifelong interest in electronics began at an early age. As a boy, he built simple one-tube radios, a hobby that led to earning his Amateur Radio license (call sign W7MKB) and later a Commercial Radio License.

While attending Billings Senior High School, Frank worked as the bank messenger for the school cafeteria, riding his Harley-Davidson to make deliveries. In 1948, he worked at Hamilton Radio Shop, helping install the first two-way taxi radios for Checker Cab. In 1950, he began his long career with the telephone company.

Frank married Rosetta Rush in 1951. Their marriage lasted 50 years, until her passing in 2001. In 1952, Frank was drafted into the United States Army Signal Corps and was stationed in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Fort Gordon, Ga., where he taught radio electronics and telephone systems.

After his military service, Frank returned to the telephone company. In 1957, he traveled throughout Montana working on the installation of microwave radio relay stations, which formed the communications backbone for long-distance telephone service and later supported the transition to high-bandwidth telecommunications and fiber-optic networks. He retired in 1982 after 32 years of service in the telephone industry.

Frank is survived by his three children, Tom (Chris), Scott, and Ann; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

No services are planned. Interment will take place at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Fort Harrison.

Sorry to hear of Frank´s passing. He had a long, strong, amazing life.
One of my earliest childhood memories is of Frank sitting on the back of a pick up at our house on Lawrence Street strumming a ukulele and singing six foot two eyes of blue. I also have a later childhood memory during the holidays when I was learning to play the flute and my best friend Gina was learning to play the trumpet and he was so encouraging to what I can only imagine was a horrible cacaphony. So many fun summer memories at the Kamlowsky cabin. Envisioning Frank and Rosetta, my parents, and all their fun friends together again gives me comfort. I hope the same for Ann, Scott, and Tom.

Frank Kowski was one of the very very best associations I had in my years of Mountain States telephone telegraph, Mountain Bell, US West etc. he was a true professional that had great knowledge and my total respect personally and professionally. There was none better in the company that I ever associated with . My first summer job was 1955 inspecting the Beach --Helena toll line. When Frank retired, I seriously considered selling my stock, how about that. Smile WR (Bob) Korizek
