Frank Kearing Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 8, 2025.
Frank T. Kearing, of Enfield, CT, passed away on May 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 5, 1928, in Syracuse, NY to Mary (Petrunick) and Michael Kearing. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Leon Kearing, and his sister, Elizabeth Kearing Cost. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse and a 1950 graduate of Georgetown University. Frank was an active member of the tire industry from 1952, when he joined the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, until 2020, when at 92, Covid rules made it necessary to retire.
Frank is survived by his wife of 71 years, Beverly (Stowell) Kearing, his five children Peter (Marcie) of Longmeadow, Susan of Chestertown, NY, Mary Patricia of South Portland, ME, Michael (Becky) of Longmeadow and James of Westfield. He also leaves his grandchildren Anne Marie (Chris) Belinda, Madelaine (Cody) Kieltyka, David (Hannah) Kearing, Allison Kearing, Stephanie Kearing, Jacob Kearing, Adam Kearing and great grandsons Theodore and Caleb Belinda. An avid reader, he loved nothing more than to share his knowledge and opinions with them and with his wife, with whom he enjoyed many years of travel.
Frank, with his family, was a resident of Saint Lawrence County, NY for 56 years until 2024 when he and Beverly moved to the Massachusetts area to be near their children. His legacy tire store in Potsdam is still managed by his family today.
Frank was a Korean War Era veteran of the Air Force Reserve, a past member of the Knights of Columbus, a small business instructor at the State University of NY at Canton, an unwavering Yankees fan and very proud of his Ukrainian heritage. His maternal grandfather was instrumental in the establishment of the first Ukrainian Catholic Church in Syracuse, NY.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3rd at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Longmeadow. There will be a Memorial Mass in Colton, New York at St. Patrick's Church on Friday, August 29th at 11:00 am, followed by his interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
