Frank “Pete” Kerns, was born on March 31, 1963, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Pryor, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Growing up as a cowboy and farming alongside his grandfather, Barry, shaped his character and instilled in him a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Pete enjoyed his job and was welcomed with open arms for the very beginning at the Cherokee Nation wellness center, where he contributed to the well-being of others with his caring nature. Pete was a loving and devoted family man who took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, he especially loved attending Zeke's basketball games, moments he cherished immensely.
Pete enjoyed traveling and riding four-wheelers, pursuits that allowed him to explore and create lasting memories with loved ones. His warmth, laughter, and spirit of adventure touched the hearts of many.
Pete is survived by his significant other, Judy Pritchett of Salina, Oklahoma, his sons Cody Greer and Jami of Adair, Oklahoma; Thomas Carver and Stephanie of Wagoner, Oklahoma; and Kyle Smith of Salina, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his daughter Tiffany Smith and Brandon of Salina, Oklahoma, his brother Todd Kerns of Pryor, Oklahoma, and his sister Deelynn Patterson of Salina, Oklahoma. His grandchildren Samuel, Phoebe, Elijah, Ezekiel, Kross, Knox, Kottyn, Kopper, Dane, Shepherd, and Tripp.
Pete was preceded in death by his mother Gayelynn Kerns and his grandparents Barry and Fada King, who undoubtedly welcomed him with the same love and open arms that he shared with everyone around him.
Visitation and funeral services in Pete's honor will be held at Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service in Pryor, Oklahoma. The visitation is scheduled for August 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, funeral service on August 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at the Kansas cemetery, with Samuel Dry, Zeke Smith, Brier Smith, Brandon Smith, David Caserta, and Dane Pippin serving as casket bearers.
