Frank Klatte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schepner-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc. - Crafton on Sep. 25, 2024.
Beloved husband, father, brother, and son: Frank C. Klatte, Jr, Age 76, of Robinson Township, passed away peacefully at his home on March 1, 2024, after a battle with a rare form of leukemia. Frank, the eldest of five siblings, was born on June 27, 1947. He married the love of his life, Karen (Snyder), in July of 1972. Frank was a patriot; he served in the US Army in the Vietnam War, and later enlisted in the Air National Guard. In his professional life, Frank was an avionics instructor at Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics before retiring in 2012. Frank is fondly remembered for the musical gifts he shared with those he loved; he was a talented pianist, bassist, tuba player, and music arranger. He was also a car enthusiast with exquisite craftsmanship, who enjoyed both building and racing them. In his retirement, he enjoyed dedicating more time to this hobby, working meticulously for eight years to build a replica 1932 'Deuce Coupe'. He continued to pursue his love of music through playing bass in local bands, most recently performing in November of 2023. Frank is predeceased by his mother, Jeanne. He is survived by his father, Frank Sr., and his wife Karen (Snyder) Klatte; daughters Eva (Sean) Kramer, and Lena (Chris) Clary; grandchildren Maya, Sydney, Rowan, and Jackson; and siblings Cindi Dill, Jeannie Schulz, Wendy Carson, Timmy Klatte, and their families.
Friends and family will be welcomed to celebrate his memory on Saturday, March 9, 2024 2-4 & 6-8 at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Twp.), 15108. Interment in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with full military honors, will be held at a future date. Frank's family encourages those who are able to consider donating blood or stem cells, as an act of supporting the blood cancer community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mrs. Claus Club, P.O. Box 38, Eighty Four, Pa 15330, a local organization providing comfort baskets to people battling cancer.
