Frank Gennaro Marchio, age 86, of Grosse Ile, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025. He was born on May 2, 1939, to Louis and Vittoria (Rizzo) Marchio in Detroit Michigan.
After graduating from high school, Frank pursued higher education and earned a Master's degree in education, demonstrating his lifelong dedication to learning and teaching. He married the love of his life, Christine, and together they were blessed with two daughters, who were the light of his life.
Frank dedicated his career as a special education consultant and later as a teacher in the Melvindale and Northern Allen Park school districts. Known as both an educator and a coach, he made a lasting impact on countless students and athletes. He was especially proud of developing the girls' track and field program for the school district, a contribution he held dear and took great pride in.
An avid outdoorsman, Frank truly enjoyed fishing and spending time in nature, finding peace in the simple pleasures of being outside. Above all, he was most proud of his roles as husband, father, and "Cic"-a title filled with love and pride.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Vittoria; sister-in-law Mary Jane Marchio; and brother-in-law Carl Bargardi.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christine; daughters Cristina (Eric) Benzenhafer and Angela (Brian) Stratton; grandchildren Isaac Stratton, Annaliese Benzenhafer, Katherine Benzenhafer, and Liam Stratton. He is also survived by his siblings Anthony Marchio, Frances Bargardi, Josephine Anderson, and James (Evelyn) Marchio. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Frank's memory with a donation to the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Grosse Ile Chapter. Frank was an active member for 22 years since the chapter's inception. He loved to work their Friday night fish fries, and the camaraderie that he created in support of so many good causes.
Physical checks can be paid directly to the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 13475, in person during the funeral or mailed to Sacred Heart Church (21599 Parke Lane Dr.; Grosse Ile, MI 48138). Angela will also coordinate donations made to the local K of C if an electronic donation is preferred through Venmo: Angela Stratton (@Angela-Stratton-6 To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Frank Gennaro Marchio, please visit our floral store.
