Frank Martinez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alternative Choice Funeral & Cremation - Farmington on Mar. 2, 2026.
Frank Martinez November 5, 1949 – February 27, 2026

Frankie "Frank" Martinez, 76, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. Born on November 5, 1949, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Frank was raised there by his loving parents, Rebecca and Fidel Martinez, as one of 12 children in a close-knit family.

Known for his quick humor, tireless work ethic, and unconditional love, Frank had a special gift for accepting and befriending everyone he met. He built a long and successful career as a route salesman, proudly working for companies including Rainbow, Holsum, Mother's Cookies, and Frito-Lay over the years.

Above all, Frank's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted and caring husband to his lifelong partner, Gina Martinez. Their love story began when Gina was in the eighth grade, and they remained together ever since, celebrating 54 years of marriage. The couple started their family in Albuquerque, New Mexico, welcoming sons Mark and David. In 1981, they moved to Farmington, where they made their home and built lasting memories until Frank's passing.

Frank's heart truly belonged to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He cherished grandchildren Nick Martinez (Tyler), Rebecca Martinez (Dawson), Angelica Schryver (James), and Lila Johansen. His love extended even deeper to his great-grandchildren Mateo Martinez, Mia Martinez, and Otto Schryver (due in May).

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca and Fidel Martinez, and his siblings Rosendo, Leonard, Fidel Jr., Tony, and Steve.

He is survived by his wife, Gina Martinez; sons Mark (Steph) and David (Alicia); his only surviving brother, Albert; and sisters, Mary, Cecilia, Helen, Rose, and Maria; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren listed above; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed by his warmth and humor.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, followed by the funeral Mass and interment. A reception will follow in the family center.

Honorary pallbearers are: Nick Martinez, Tyler Martinez, Rebecca Martinez, Dawson Gipp, Angelica Schryver, James Schryver, Lila Johansen, Mateo Martinez, Mia Martinez, Otto Schryver (pending arrival)

Frank will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the laughter, love, and kindness he shared so freely. May our "handsome" husband, dad, papa and friend rest in eternal peace.
