Frank McDermott

Frank (Francis) McDermott of Springfield, Virginia, passed away on October 25, 2025, from complications related to Parkinson's disease. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital on August 13, 1957, Frank was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Heavey) McDermott. He grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts, and graduated from Braintree High School before earning his degree from Boston State College in 1979. Frank dedicated his professional life to public service as a longtime employee of the Internal Revenue Service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Janet Cullen McDermott, and his siblings Mary Manning, Ann Cyr, John McDermott, and Thomas McDermott. He also will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces and many friends. His wake will be held on Friday, October 31, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, Virginia. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, at 12:00 noon at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1427 West Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA, followed by a reception at the church hall.

Burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, Massachusetts 02184, on Wednesday, November 5, at 10:30 AM. Prior to his interment, there will be a viewing and brief gathering at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Hanover, MA 02339, from 9-10 AM.
