We mourn the loss of Frank, loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, dearest friend. He passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter Alina (husband Francisco Dimas and their son Dov), niece Inga and nephew Marius in Lithuania.
Frank (Pranas) Meile, was born on January 10, 1945 in Germany to parents Zuzana and Pranas Meile. He came to Chicago with his mother when he was just 5 years old. He grew up in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago, attending Holy Cross Elementary school then Gage Park high school. He went on to attend University of Illinois at Chicago then DePaul University where he earned his Masters of Accounting and obtained his CPA. His long, subsequent career in accounting led to the very dearest of friends, often just known as "The Accountant".
Frank's family was the real light of his life. He was married to loving wife Daiva for 45 years, who passed away May 2022. But his eyes never twinkled so brightly and smile was never so big as when he spoke of his daughter, Alina. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Frank volunteered at Lithuanian community events, was the always reliable handyman at home and could be counted on for a smile and support whenever needed. In addition, he was the best dedukas grandson Dov could have dreamed of.
Frank will be remembered for his kindness, charm, sense of humor and loyalty to those he loved. We are sad to lose this light in our lives and in the community but are dedicated to carrying on his legacy of love and laughter.
Memorial services will be held at Petkus Funeral Home in Lemont on Sunday February 5 from 3pm-8pm. On Monday there will be a short viewing at Petkus before mass at 10 am at Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Lithuanian Catholic Mission (Lemont). He will be laid to rest in St Casimir Cemetery, next to his wife, mother and father in-law.
The Lithuanian community has always been important to the Meile family and connected them to many dear friends throughout the years. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Lithuanian World Center or Vydunas Youth Fund in Frank's honor.
