Frank crossed my mind this morning and I thought I'd search and see what he has been up to, so it was a surprise to find this memorial page.
I attended the Art Institute with Frank and have many warm memories of a guy who was always ahead of the rest of us. I remember him having a gray cat he trained to do tricks, and something called US Videotel. He was always able to make me laugh with jokes and tales of his life, including time spent as a Prince impersonator. I recall shared meals and a lot of laughter.
One of my fondest memories was of a kiss on New Year's eve in I think 1990. We were good friends who ran into each other at a show, and it was midnight, so he gave me a sweet kiss by the entrance of a place called "The Basement," whose slogan was "you can't get any lower" and they were kind of THE headbanger place in Dallas.
That kiss was innocent, but Frank was a handsome dude and I never did tell him, but he made me feel special for a second there, he made me feel less alone on the holiday when I was probably just going to see other people kiss each other if he hadn't shown up at the exact right time and place.
I hope he went on to experience the kind of love he deserved with someone wonderful- a big love for his big personality and kind heart.
I am deeply sorry for the loss his family and many friends must feel.
