Frank Petruccelli

Petruccelli, Frank, age 82 of Hawthorne on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, Frank had resided in Paterson before moving to Hawthorne 52 years ago.
Frank received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He earned two master's degrees as well as his doctorate in Education from Seton Hall University. Frank holds a N.J. teaching certificate as a teacher, supervisor and principal for K-12 and as a superintendent.
Frank enjoyed a long career as an educator and an administrator in the Diocese of Paterson school system. Frank began his career in education as an English teacher at Paterson Catholic High School where he later became vice principal. After that Frank took the position as Superintendent of Schools for the entire Paterson Diocese school system. For his efforts in education, Frank was recognized by the Phi Delta Kappa Honor Society and received the Distinguished Catholic Educator Award and the Knights of St. Gregory Papal Honor. Frank acted as chairman of the N.J. Council of Superintendents and was a member of the State Advisory Committee for the Gifted and Talented. He was also a member of the County Superintendents' Educational Committee, the National Catholic Educational Association, Chief Administrators of Catholic Education and the Governor School Nomination Committee. Frank initiated the Commissioner of Education's nonpublic schoolteacher's award and recognition program. Frank served as a trustee of the Simon Family Scholarship Foundation and a member of the Tri-County Scholarship Fund board. He has hosted numerous workshops and written extensively on Catholic Education.
After his 40-year career in education, Frank took a position as Director of Human Resources with Maverick Funding in Parsippany.
Frank Petruccelli was the beloved husband of Virginia "Ginger" Petruccelli of Hawthorne. Loving father of Laurie LaGuardia and her husband John of Wayne, Lisa Ballas and her husband Steve of Farmingdale, NY, Michael Petruccelli and his wife Debbie of Wayne, and Frank Petruccelli and his wife Nargiza of Wanaque. Dear grandfather of Alyssa Rahill, Ashley Gross, Amanda Lemieux, Nicole Ballas, and Gianna, Michael, and Anna Petruccelli. Brother of William Petruccelli of Woodland Park and the late Judy Ellis (2008).
Funeral will be departing at 9:00am on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne for a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Anthony's R.C. Church Hawthorne. Entombment will follow at the Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
