Frank Matthew Powell, age 68, of Grenada, MS, passed away on February 2, 2026.
Known to many as Franky, he was truly one of a kind. He grew up in Houlka, MS a place that always remained part of who he was. Frank had a unique spirit-creative, inventive, and endlessly curious. He loved collecting, working on projects, and finding solutions where others saw problems. His mind and hands were rarely still.
Helping others came naturally to Frank, and he did so with quiet generosity-offering his time and skills whenever they were needed.
Frank was a proud member of the 1973 Houlka Baseball State Championship Team, an accomplishment he always held close. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and took pride in his career as a Professional Engineer. He spent many years working for the Mississippi Department of Transportation before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bobbie Sue Powell, and his sister, Barbara Powell.
He is survived by his son, Frank Powell (Tiffani) of Birmingham, AL; daughters Megan Owen (Craig) of Germantown, TN, and Allison Andrews (Addison) of Memphis, TN; his seven grandchildren-Noah, Micah, Jannie Rose, Eleanor, Scott, Jack, and Henry; and his sisters, Emily Powell and Rhonda Powell.
Visitation for Frank Powell will be held on Saturday, February 7th from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Houlka, MS, where friends are welcome to come share memories and celebrate Frank's life with his family.
