Frank Burton Root

Frank Burton Root, 87, Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully on December 6, 2022, at 1:00 AM at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Columbia, MO on December 22, 1934, to Walter Root and RosaLee (Thornton) Root. Frank grew up alongside a total of eight brothers and sisters.
Frank lived his early years in in Columbia, MO. He worked in the contracting industry as a journeyman plumber for 65 years. 55 of those years were with local union #430. After retiring, he found great joy in being a campground host a Roaring River State Park in Cassville, MO. Frank met his loving wife, Barbara in 1955. They married in 1957 and to this union, had 5 children: Michael, Roy, Randy, David and Kristina.
In 2013, he made the decision to move from Joplin, MO to Tulsa, OK. Frank had a strong relationship with Christ and was a loyal member of Tulsa Gospel Assembly Church, where he was a member for 80 years.
Frank was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and friend. He was incredibly generous and always willing to help anyone in need, sometimes even a stranger. Frank loved to camp, fish and spend time in nature, especially with his family and friends, whenever he had the free time to do so. This is where he was most at peace. Moreover, Frank enjoyed singing, gardening and was always looking for the next adventure that may come his way.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Walter, mother, RosaLee, brothers JL and Donald, and sisters, Evelyn, Ruth, Fern, Dorothy and Mary.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years and love of his life, Barbara Sue (Tyson) Root, sister, Martha Alred of Willard, MO, son, Michael Root of Tulsa, OK, son and daughter in law, Roy and Patricia Root of Skiatook, OK, son Randy Root of Conroe, TX, son and daughter in law, David and Jana Root of Claremore, OK, and daughter and son in law, Kristina and Jack Dunham of Jay, OK. Frank is also survived by his 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, loving cousins, as well as many caring friends he truly considered family.
Frank had a gift for finding joy where others overlooked it, and because of this he left a little extra light behind for those that loved and cherished him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Services for Frank will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Tulsa Gospel Assembly Church – 8515 Whirlpool Dr, Sperry, OK 74073
Internment will follow immediately after the church service at Memorial Park Cemetery: 5111 S Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK 74145
