Frank "Buddy" Sudol, 85, of Marceline, Missouri, passed away on October 28, 2025, at the Pioneer Nursing Home - a place where he'd spent plenty of time visiting before becoming a resident himself. He was a favorite of the staff, always ready with a kind word and a piece of candy.
Born May 15, 1940, in Wayne, New Jersey, Frank was the son of Frank and Irene Sudol. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, where he learned discipline, loyalty, and probably a few jokes not fit to print. After his service, he found his calling in printing - becoming a certified master printer at a number of printing companies around the country. Frank took real pride in his craft, the kind of pride that comes from doing things right the first time (and sometimes telling others how they could, too). He could spot a printing error from a mile away and took it personally if a page wasn't lined up just right.
Frank married the love of his life, Linda Newman, and together they built a home filled with projects, companionship, and a fair amount of sawdust. An avid fisherman and talented woodworker, Frank could often be found tinkering in the garage, making his own fishing gear, frames, and furniture and always had a story to tell.
Frank is survived by his wife, Linda Sudol of Marceline; two sons, Stephen (Bridget) Sudol of Florida, and Kevin (Barbara) Sudol of North Carolina; and his beloved granddaughter, Cooper Sudol of Florida. Cooper could always make Frank smile and the two shared a bond of laughter, snacks, and gentle mischief. He is also survived by his sister, Junie (Denny) Toomey of Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews who adored his humor and big heart. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
Frank lived his life with a quiet confidence, a sharp wit, and a deep love for family and simple joys. He leaves behind stories, laughter, and a legacy that, much like his handcrafted lures, was built to last. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Frank Sudol, please visit our Tree Store.
