Frank Wheatley Obituary
Wharton: Frank E. Wheatley passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was 93 years of age.
Frank was born to the late Francis and Helen Wheatley and raised in Orange, NJ. He moved to Wharton in 1961 and lived here since.
Mr. Wheatley was a banker and retired as Vice President of Heritage Bank in Whippany after many years of service.
Frank was a Korean War, US Navy Veteran and was a valued member of the Wharton American Legion Post #91.
He was a longtime parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of St. Mary's Church, Wharton. He was active in the Wharton Fire Department, Hook and Ladder Co., serving for over 50 years and held the rank of Captain and later was the Chaplain for many years. He was a member of the Wharton Exempt Fireman and the former President State Exempt Fireman Association. He was also the past President of the ABA (American Bankers Association). Frank also served as a Wharton Councilman for several years.
Predeceased in 2017 by his wife Eileen (née Donnelly) of 58 years.
Survived by:
Four Sons:
Frank E. and wife Nancy.
William and wife Denise.
Robert and wife Karen.
James and wife Jessica.
Two Daughters:
Colleen Bailey and husband Jack.
Karen Walsh and husband Christopher.
Also survived by 17 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 4-8pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.
A funeral mass will be held 10am on Friday at St. Mary's Church, Wharton.
Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, E. Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory to the Wharton Fire Department, 10 Robert St., Wharton, NJ 07885 would be appreciated.
