Memorial Service for Frank A. Ybarra, 83 of Lubbock will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2023, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Junior Limas officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

In the early evening of October 11, 2023, Frank went to be with the Lord. Born on August 23, 1940, to the late Juan and Lucadia Ybarra in Mathis. Frank was a man of many talents and will be remembered as a jack of all trades. Throughout his life, Frank worked as an electrician, sold paletas and worked as a skilled mechanic, before finally retiring from Billy Sims Trailers. He was also known as a great handyman and had a remarkable ability to fix anything that came his way.

Frank lived a life filled with love and dedication to his family. One of the greatest joys in his life was dancing with his love, Susana they danced into each other’s arms in 1995 cherishing 28 years together. Frank's family meant the world to him, and he always made sure they were taken care of and happy, especially Susana. He will always be known as a father and grandfather to Susana’s children and grandchildren, a true testament of his endearing love.

He also enjoyed watching soccer and football, especially his favorite team The Dallas Cowboys. 

Frank's warm smile and kind heart will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Mary Huerta, Adela Ochoa, Pedro Ybarra, Angelina Aleman, David Ybarra, Juan Ybarra and Rosa Chavarria; five grandsons Joshua DeAnda, Joshua Ybarra, Dorian Cantu, Oscar Canales Jr. and Juan Cruz Canales. 

He is survived by his loving companion Susana DeAnda of Lubbock; sons David Ybarra of Mathis, Ruben DeAnda of Shallowater, and Noel DeAnda of Forney; daughters Dianna Ybarra of Big Springs, Mary Lou Ybarra of Lubbock, Mary Ann Ybarra of Mathis, Lucy Ybarra of Washington, Star Ybarra of George West, Cynthia Ybarra of Mathis, Kathy Ybarra of Austin, Debbie Salazar of Austin, Suzie Rodriguez of Atkins, Debbie Castillo of Harlingen, Melva DeAnda of Houston, Belinda Colmenero of Lubbock and Cindy DeAnda of Lubbock; a brother Pascual Ybarra of Weslaco; a sister Candelaria Perez of Canyon; forty-two grandchildren; eighty three great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and one great great grandchild.

 

Also, a note of appreciation to Ella and Gabi Colmenero for their unwavering love and devotion towards Frank during his final days. These special girls adjusted their own busy schedules to provide around the clock care for Frank which allowed him to remain in the comfort of his own home. Your upmost dedication love, time and care also brought a great deal of comfort to us all as family, we are forever grateful.
