Franklin W. Boyd, age 75, passed peacefully in his home in Havana, FL on February 12, 2026. “Papa” was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He is mostly remembered by his children, grandbabies and great grandbabies as the “world’s greatest Papa.” Because all children loved him and you could always find Frank doing something for them, night or day, Papa was there for them. Frank was also a great patriot who served his country in Vietnam and in peacetime, retiring as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. His working career also included him establishing a small family business in remodeling homes and general carpentry, with his children and devoted wife Lillie.
At the most fundamental level of his nature, Frank was also known for his down-to-earth sense of humor and always going above and beyond the call of duty. His actions spoke louder than words, his life reflected his deep love for his family, his country, his community and selfless-service to anybody that asked him for help in any way needed. Frank also loved his westerns and his wrestling matches on TV. In honor of his commitment to the cowboys, he is going to be buried at “high noon” at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
Frank was preceded in death by his brother Phillip Boyd, sister Carolyn Holbrook, and grandchild Kayla Kristan Wingate. He is survived by his wife Lillie Boyd, son, Michael Boyd and daughter-in-law Billie Jo Boyd, daughter (his “baby girl”), Dawn Jacobus, son-in-law Ted Jacobus, son Steven Boyd, sister Marilyn Crowl, sister Annette Williamson, sister Marsha Griffis, sister Cora Slavings, brother Homer Babcock, brother Maynard Babcock, and Erlene. Frank’s grandchildren are Whitney Wingate, William Wingate and fiancé Angela Wingate, Mark Callahan, Jesse Callahan and Rayelyn Boyd. Franks great grandchildren are Kayla Gaskins, Melissa Parker, River Wingate, Laurie Burdeshaw, and Lake Wingate. His life honored his entire loving family, which includes his dear friends, too numerous to name and the entire Williamson clan.
