Franklin Durham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home - Columbia on Dec. 18, 2024.
Franklin Durham affectionately called "Big Pappa" was born June 7, 1968, in Fairfield County, South Carolina, the son of the late Elex Durham and Elizabeth Barber-Bailey. He departed this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Ridgeway, South Carolina.
Franklin grew up in a nuclear family home and was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County. He started his career as a young skilled construction worker and dedicated more than thirty (30) years of high-quality work. He was known for his innovative ideas and unwavering determination, which led to numerous accolades and recognition within his industry.
Franklin loved fishing, a passion he shared with his wife. He was known as "The Grill Master" and was an excellent cook. He loved cooking for his family and friends and sharing in the loved that he shared with others through food. He also loved music and having karaoke time with his family. To know Franklin was to have laughed with, or shared a kind word, whether you were a close friend or a stranger. He was loyal and dedicated; two attributes that highlighted his personality. He richly touched the lives of so many people who will forever be blessed by the love he shared.
Those who are welcoming Franklin home to reign with the Lord are his wife, Bessie Mae Durham; his parents; and four brothers, Elex James, Michael, Gary, and Roosevelt Durham.
Franklin leaves to cherish fond and precious memories his loving children, Sylvia (Marcus) Smith, Nakisha Jeter, Franklin T. Durham, Nadreka (Lamar) Jenkins, Elizabeth (Andre) Gregory, Sheneki (Christopher) Jamison, Collie Jeter, and Jevon Geter, all of Columbia, SC; a loving niece, Aisha Durham of Columbia, SC; his loving and adoring grandchildren; and a host of nephew, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
