Franklin Leroy Jenkins departed this life on November 19, 2024, in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was 86 years old. Franklin was one of twelve children born to the late Kenneth Jenkins and Hattie Moaney Jenkins of Easton, Maryland.
Franklin was born December 1, 1937, in Easton, Maryland. He attended public schools in Talbot County, Maryland. At the age of 19 he began working at Esskay Poultry Plant in Cordova, Maryland, which later became Allen Family Foods. He dedicated a total of 45 years of faithful service between the two companies. Franklin loved helping the employees, encouraging them to do their best. He later retired on October 26, 2001. A little while later after his retirement, he was rehired as the part-time Mailman. Also, while working at Allens and after he retired, Franklin did his share of catering with several catering businesses, dressing up with his white shirt, black bowtie, and black dress pants. When he wasn't working, he was doing the things he loved. Franklin was a big NASCAR fan; Dale Earnhardt was his favorite. He went to several races in Dover, Delaware. He had a collection of cars in a display case, a book full of cards with the different drivers, and other memorabilia. His hobbies did not stop there, he enjoyed fishing, taking care of his beautiful roses, listening to gospel music in his garage, playing with the great-grandchildren, watching his sports and CNN News. He also enjoyed deer watching while sitting on the porch in Easton with his two sisters.
Franklin was baptized at Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ella Mae Wells, Kenneth Jenkins, Estelle Jenkins, William Jenkins, Margaret Watkins, Willinettie Gibson, Raymond Jenkins, James Jenkins, and Richard Jenkins; and a stepdaughter, Nancy Warner.
Franklin leaves to cherish wonderful memories; his wife of 48 years, Hazel Jenkins; children, Angela Trott of Preston, MD, Terrence Jenkins (Phyllis) of Easton, MD, Audrey Jenkins of Hurlock, MD; stepson, Frankie Warner of Cambridge, MD; siblings, Gladys Ann Williams and Dorothy Jenkins of Easton, MD; five grandchildren, James and Tiona Wise of Easton, MD, Orlando Trott Jr. (Holli) of Bethesda, MD, Mauresha Jenkins of Hurlock, MD, and Tah'Jay Jenkins of Baltimore, MD; three great-grandchildren, Cymere Wise, Kamani Jenkins, and Oaklynn Barrett; one sister- in- law, Mabel Boston of Easton, MD; two brothers-in-law, Carroll Warner (Viola) of Federalsburg, MD and Robert Warner of Easton, MD; his specials nieces, Virginia Burford of New Jersey, Delores Jenkins of Maryland, and Ruth Roberts of Delaware; a special nephew, William Jenkins (Boot) of California; a special godson, Carlton Holmes of Denton, MD; special friends, Larry Bordley, Norman Nuton, Franklin Tilghman, and James Berry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
