Franklin Douglas Landrum, 77, husband of Vonda Eley Landrum, died September 6, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Born in Greene County, he was the son of the late Frank James Landrum and Allie Ree Vaughn Landrum.
Doug was a graduate of Greene County High School and received a BS in Zoology and a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia. Following his graduation, he worked at Horton’s Drugs in Athens for 2 years before joining and retiring after 43 years from Athens Regional Medical Center.
Doug faithfully served Briarwood Baptist where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director. He later joined Ashford Memorial Methodist Church to be with his cherished grandchildren. Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and master of securing the first spot in the car rider and buffet line. He will be remembered for putting the “GRAND” in Grandparent, his passion for sports & UGA football, his kindness and his unwavering love for his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include daughters, Ellen (Dan) Elder and India Caudle both of Watkinsville; grandchildren Robert Daniel Elder IV, Allie McRee Elder, Landrum Alfred Caudle & Tripp Franklin Caudle; sisters, Nita (William) Coleman and Linda Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his sisters June (Lynn) McLeroy and Joan (Joe) Dunagan.
The funeral service will be held Monday, September 8, 2025, at 3pm at Ashford Memorial Methodist Church. The family will receive friends and family from 2pm until 3pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ashford Memorial Methodist Youth fund. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers; Pat Washington, Alma Rivera, Kristen Crumley, Gloria Jackson & Sharon McKinney for their gentle and compassionate care.
