Franklin "Slim" William Dale, 83, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 20, 2025, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. He was born on June 15, 1941, in Lockport, Henry County, Kentucky to the late Leonard Clayton Dale, Sr. and Ethel Mae (Hamilton) Dale. Frank leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and a vibrant spirit that touched many.
Professionally, Frank dedicated his career as a crane operator and supervisor at Jeffboat in Jeffersonville, Indiana. His contributions to the industry were marked by his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. Outside of work, Frank's life was rich with experiences that showcased his diverse talents. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer Champion in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where he proudly sparred with notable boxers including Muhammad Ali and Greg Page. This facet of his life reflected not only his competitive spirit but also his passion for sports and the camaraderie it fostered.
Frank was a man who cherished family above all else. He is survived by two sons, Brian E. (Laura) Dale and William G. Dale, both of Eminence, Kentucky, and two daughters, Deborah D. (Scott) Ayers and Jackie D. (Kevin) Woods, also of Eminence, Kentucky. He was a proud sibling to his sister, Ida Beverly of Lockport, Kentucky. Frank enjoyed the joys of family life, being blessed with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense happiness.
In addition to his accomplishments, Frank was known for his warm heart and compassionate nature. He had a genuine love for children and animals, often reflecting on the joy they brought to his life. His faith was also an essential part of his journey, as he attended Orville Baptist Church, where he found community and fellowship.
Frank was predeceased by his loving wife, Dianna Gayle Dale, one sister, Clara Downey and his brothers, Leonard C. Dale, Jr., and Clayton Dale. Their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew them.
A visitation to honor Frank's life will be held at Sholar-Riley Funeral Home in Pleasureville, Kentucky, on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, May 24, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM, and will be officiated by Nathan Shaw. Burial will be in Franlinton Cemetery.
Frank "Slim" Dale's spirit will be deeply missed, yet the impact he made in the lives of his loved ones will forever resonate within their hearts.
