Just finding this now, but I have such fond memories of Dr. Schneider, whose class I was in for Intro to Poetry and The Epic. I remember how in the first days of the class on the epic, he would come in saying to us, "Do you feel heroic?" Absolutely one of my most delightful teachers ever, and quite possibly as well the most fearless. Just thinking of him now makes me think that I need to find my inner hero. He was that inspiring.

I always found it amazing and inspiring that a teacher like Dr. Schneider whose first language was not English could teach and write a second language so brilliantly. If you read his poetry in Roof of Stone I hope you will appreciate what I am saying. RIP Dr. Schneider.

He taught my father Frank Love in the late 50s. He taught me in 1983. He was a great teacher and a wonderful and decent human being.

Dr. Schneider was a gift to his students as he shared his love of and insights into poetry and the novel. I will never forget his wisdom and love of the written word.
Such a charming and brilliant man.

I loved Dr. Schneider as a German language teacher at Gonzaga in the 1950's. He may have done that to fill in for the regular teacher, Herr Dreyer, who died unexpectedly in the middle of a year. What he taught me has been useful for over 60 years, as recently as today. Gott segne dich, und RIP, Dr. Schneider!
