Freddie Allen "Fred" Barnes, aged 79, of Paragould, passed from this life on Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born on August 21, 1945, to the late Otis and Loie Cook Barnes. Fred was a cherished dad and Pawpaw, devoted friend, and a beloved member of his community, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a passion for life lived in the great outdoors.
A proud graduate of Keiser High School, Fred married his true love, Cathy Wells, on July 10, 1964. Together, they built a love and family that blessed their lives for 47 years until her passing.
Fred dedicated 25 years of his life to serving as a firefighter with the Paragould Fire Department, where he was known not only for his bravery but also for his friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a helping hand. His experiences as a firefighter were just one aspect of a life that celebrated camaraderie and service to others.
Fred was an avid outdoorsman who relished every moment spent hunting and fishing. He particularly enjoyed duck hunting and dove hunting, finding peace and joy in the natural world. In addition to his love for outdoor pursuits, he was a remarkable conversationalist, often engaging anyone he met in hours of lively discussions.
Above all, Fred treasured his family. He deeply valued his time with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that would be cherished for generations to come. Fred's warmth extended beyond his family; he built connections with friends and community members, taking pleasure in sharing stories and experiences with those around him.
A man of deep faith, Fred attended Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro, where he found support and community. His strong beliefs guided him in his interactions and shaped a life committed to kindness and generosity.
