Fred Clark, 84, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Niles, Michigan.
Fred was born on September 6, 1941 in rural Sharkey County Mississippi to the late Daniel Clark and Pearlie King.
Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Nathaniel King.
Left to cherish the memory of Fred is his daughter, Brenda (Craig) Carter-Clark; grandchildren, Tyrice Carter, Terrelle Carter, Terrence Carter, Brielle Carter, Tyson Carter, Bryce Carter, and Brooklyn Carter; great grandchildren, Teà Carter and Tarynn Carter; a special friend, Cheryl Ann Cook, and a host of cousins.
Fred moved to Jackson, Mississippi and attended Holy Ghost Catholic School. Pearlie remarried David Walker in 1948 and the family including Fred's brother, Nathaniel King moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1952. There, Fred attended Holy Angels Catholic Grade School and St. Elizabeth High School. Fred was baptized a Catholic at Holy Angels.
Fred was an All-Star Little League baseball catcher in 1954. He was a top student at St. Elizabeth and graduated in 1959. Fred went on to attend DePaul University from 1959 to 1961.
In 1964, Fred was drafted into the United States Army where served two years honorably. In 1969, Fred married Rosemary Myers and from that union they had one child, Brenda Marie Clark. Fred and Rosemary divorced in 1980. He later went on to work as a Claims Supervisor for American Country Insurance Company.
Visitation for Fred will be on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Celebration of Life to be held at 11:00am at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, Michigan 49120.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
