Mr. Fred William Cline, age 71, of Marion went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born in McDowell County on September 10, 1951 to the late Fred and Lucy Duncan Cline.
Fred was a member of the West Marion Baptist Church. He was an original member of the McDowell County EMS which he served for many years. He later retired from Metal Industries. Fred also volunteered for many years with the McDowell County Rescue Squad where he held many positions including Chief. He was a certified Rescue Technician instructor, and a member of MENSA which is a high IQ society.
In addition to his parents Fred was preceded in death by a sister Madge McGilvary; and one brother James Cline.
Fred is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Kay Elliott Cline; one brother Mike Cline; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with the Reverend Heath Ammons officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
Memorial may be made in Fred’s honor to the West Marion Baptist Church at 365 Stroud St. Marion NC 28752.
