Mass of Christian Burial for Fred Gentrup age 91 of Beemer, NE will be on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, NE. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Beemer American Legion Hall. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service all at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting with the arrangements.

Fred passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 in Gretna, NE.

Fred C. Gentrup was born on October 7, 1933 on the farm near Beemer, NE to Theodore and Theresa (Spenner) Gentrup. He attended Guardian Angels Grade School and helped on the family farm at an early age.

Fred served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, serving in England until he was honorably discharged. He returned to Beemer and in 1958 moved onto the farm place where he was currently residing.

On August 11, 1959, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Bracht at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE. Fred farmed, raising cattle and hogs. He was supporter of 4-H, helping his children with their show cattle and rarely missed a 4-H cattle show.

Fred was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, was a 3rd Degree Member of West Point Knights of Columbus Council #2272.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents-Theodore and Theresa Spenner, wife-Dorothy Gentrup, son-Russell Gentrup, daughter in infancy-Mary Kay Gentrup, and siblings-Cecilia (Dennis) Johnson, Catherine (Vincent) Ulrich, William Gentrup, Ignatius (Rosie) Gentrup, and Leo Gentrup.
