Fred L. Good, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Lompoc, California, at the age of 89.
Born on November 30, 1936, in Madison, Illinois, Fred was a man of quiet strength, quick wit, and gentle spirit. A proud United States Air Force veteran, he served honorably and retired as a Technical Sergeant, carrying his deep pride for service, discipline, and country throughout his life.
Following his military service, Fred built a distinguished career in the aerospace field. Highly decorated and respected, he was known for his strong work ethic, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to excellence. His professional accomplishments were many, but he remained humble, letting his work and character speak for themselves.
To his family, Fred was the steady voice of reason, the storyteller behind the camera, and the man who never missed a moment worth remembering. He took great pride in his family and his community in Lompoc, California, where he stayed actively involved and deeply connected. A man of strong faith and independence, he lived by his values and led by example.
Fred found great joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures - music, community, and time spent with those he loved. He and his wife shared a love of travel, especially RVing together with their children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Known for his wonderful sense of humor and love of practical jokes, Fred had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease. He was always there to listen, to advise, and to show up.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Good, who passed on February 10, 2018; his daughter, Sandra Cox; his parents; and his two brothers and one sister.
Fred is survived by his son, Vernard Good of Lompoc, California; and his daughter, Sabrina Williams of Aurora, Colorado and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him as a source of love, laughter, and steady guidance.
Fred L. Good’s legacy is one of service, faith, humor, and devotion - to his country, his community, and above all, his family. A proud veteran and a man full of life, he leaves behind a memory that will continue to inspire, comfort, and bring smiles to all who had the honor of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 3355 Constellation Rd., Lompoc California.
