Fred Green

Fred Green, 73, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. He was born on February 6, 1952, to Josie and Julius Green. After graduating from Harlem High School, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served honorably for nine and a half years.
Upon returning to Harlem, he worked at Buttrey's, where he met his soon-to-be wife, Debbie. They were married on August 15, 1986, and shared 39 wonderful years together.
Fred was the proud father of four children: Alisha, Chris, Matt, and Sarah; and grandfather to three grandchildren: Marie, Cody, and Chloe. Over the years, he and Debbie opened their home to multiple exchange students, families, and friends.
Alongside his wife Debbie and mother Josie, Fred helped run Blondie's - a beloved restaurant and bakery. Fred's love language was always food; he found joy in baking and cooking for his family and friends. His home was filled with life, laughter, and love, and all who entered felt welcome and safe.
Fred loved spending time with his family, baking, cooking, hunting, and fishing. To know Fred was to know generosity, warmth, and a deep, abiding love for people. He was a father to many, a friend to all, and a man whose legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the hearts he warmed.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughters, Alisha and Sarah; sons, Chris and Matt; sister, Nancy; brother, Jerry; and grandchildren, Marie, Cody, and Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josie and Julius; and brothers, Frank, Richard (Dick), and Robert (Bob).
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 16th at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic church in Harlem.
