Freddy Horton, age 86 of Snellville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Freddy is now reunited with his loving wife of over 61 years, Helen Horton. Freddy is survived by his son, Kevin (Katie White) Horton, grandchildren, Lucas, Spencer, and Marlowe Horton, and his brother, Bill Horton. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Tommy, JP, Mildred, and Betty. Freddy was the son of Iva Mae Greene and Jessie Hobson Horton. He was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandaddy to his family, and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Freddy was born September 1, 1937, in Fyffe, Alabama. He married Helen in 1959 and moved to Georgia shortly thereafter. Freddy built his career working for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Atlanta for over 40 years. When he wasn't working, Freddy spent time cheering on his grandsons, Lucas, at his swim meets, and Spencer on the baseball field and tennis court. He loved spending time at his mountain house in Suches, Georgia, and vacationing at the beach with family in Florida. Freddy was an avid golfer and member of Summit Chase Country Club for many years. He accomplished the dream of a hole in one while playing at a local tournament just a few years ago. After being the best grandaddy to boys for over 20 years, he was blessed with a granddaughter just last year.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Freddy "Fred" Horton will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of service 11:00 AM at the funeral home. So sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He was my uncle and I will always remember playing pitch and catch and croquet with him at my grandparents house. He was very proud of his wife, his son and grandsons and loved them very much. We will all miss his steady presence and sense of humor.
