Fred Michael Hoskins, Sr., age 73, of Barbourville, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 4, 1951, in Harlan, KY to Fred and Ollie Brown Hoskins Napier.
Fred enlisted in the US Marines, then began his career as an auto mechanic. Later on, he joined his brother George at Bailey Hill Coal Mines where he proved to be a highly skilled preventative maintenance man and certified electrician. He enjoyed fishing and took great pleasure in growing flowers and tomatoes. Fred was of the Baptist faith and found great peace enjoying the mountains and sunsets. He was a cherished husband, father and grandfather.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, LeShannon Wright; grandson, David Hoskins; brothers, George David Hoskins and Gabriel Hoskins; and sister, Matricia Sally Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy Roark Hoskins; their sons, Fred (Stephanie) Hoskins, Jr. and Frank (Andrea) Hoskins; son, Geoffrey Hoskins; daughter, Jonesta (Norman) Richardson; grandchildren, Dylan Connor Hoskins, Devin Michael Hoskins, Wyatt James Hoskins, Leah Brook Johnson, Michael Hoskins, Caleb Wright, Colby Wright, Mary Richardson and Lucas Richardson; sister, Wanda (Mickey) Stewart; and brother, James Clifford (Toni) Hoskins, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.
The family of Fred Michael Hoskins, Sr. will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend David Howard and Reverend Freeman Clark presiding.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Saylor Cemetery, Pathfork, KY, where graveside services will be held.
Pallbearers will be Fred Hoskins, Jr., Frank Hoskins, Dylan Hoskins, Devin Hoskins, Jared Daniels and Cameron Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Daniels, Kevin Daniels, Mickey Stewart and Bruce Hall.
