Fred Josephsen

November 26, 1935 - January 25, 2026

Fred H. Josephsen, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully on January 25th after a brief illness. He was 90 years old. Born in Pleasantville, he was the son of John and Ida (Hepler) Josephsen. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. Fred was a longtime resident of Somers Point, where he raised his young family and coached many of the city's youth in rec. baseball. An extremely talented and skilled craftsman, Fred was the 2nd generation owner of Josephsen Hardwood Floors. As a young father, he was a member of the local antique car community. He proudly participated in local car shows, where he won many awards. Fred was a member of the Atlantic Masonic Lodge in Absecon, where he served as an RW (Rightful Worship) and PM (Past Master) and Trinity Lodge in EHT, where he served as Treasurer. A motorcycle enthusiast, he was also a member of the Retreads Motorcycle Group. Fred's pastimes included boating, fishing, hunting, and country line dancing. An extraordinary person, he showed up big for everyone in his life. Fred fiercely loved his family, never missing his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events, graduations, and birthdays. Fred was a loving uncle and profound influence to many nieces and nephews. No holiday or family gathering will ever be the same, Fred will live in our hearts forever. Survived by his devoted wife Millie, his son Fred J. his wife Francie, daughter Patty Cole, his grandchildren Alinda Cole, Danielle (Rich) Pugsley, Dana (Greg) Mueller, Dillon and Olivia Josephsen. He was also the great-grandfather of Anthony Mueller. He is also survived by Denise (Joseph) Grugan, Doreen (Edward) Carswell, grandchildren Edward (Christin) Carswell III, Karly (Robert) Duda, Nicole (Anthony) Konopka, Jamie (Thomas) Johnson, Jeff and Kelly Grugan, and eight great-grandchildren. Fred is predeceased by his first wife Mickey and daughter Linda Palermo. A believer in God and eternal life, Fred's loving memory will endure until we meet again.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 30th starting at 5 pm at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road in Linwood until 7 pm. The following day, Saturday January 31st, an additional viewing will be held starting at 10 am at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home in Linwood followed by a service at 11 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com
