It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of Fred Kaestner on Friday, May 16th at his home.
Fred was born on April 21, 1938 in Red Bud, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Kaestner, Sr. and Edna (Heuman) Kaestner and his brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Carolyn Kaestner and sister and brother-in-law: LuAnn and Harvey Fuhrhop. Fred married Shirley Voss at Hope Lutheran Church on October 17, 1959. God blessed their marriage with three children: Tracy (Mike) Wilke, Terri Dees, and Brad (Shelly) Kaestner. They were also blessed with grandchildren: Katie Wilke, Randy (Jordan) Dees, Tony Dees, Beth (Nick) Walton, Katherine Kaestner (preceded in death 2001), Ally Kaestner (preceded in death 2018), Nate Kaestner, and Luke Kaestner. He was also great-grandfather to: Avery Dees, Cayden Wilke-Bond, Finley Dees, Conrad Walton, and Deacon Walton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations may be made to Lutheran Children and Family Services and Friends of Kids with Cancer.
A visitation for Fred will be held on Thursday May 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Parlor 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129. His funeral will take place the following morning, May 23, at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment in St. Trinity Cemetery following the service.
