Fred J. Kula, 101, of Lodi, formerly of Wallington and Garfield, passed away on January 11, 2026. Before retiring he was a machinist at Curtis-Wright in Wood-Ridge for 30 years. Fred was an Army World War II Veteran and a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #136 in Lodi. Preceded in death by his siblings John Kula, Michael Kula, Catherine Carparelli, May Padula, and Laura Kokawski. Beloved husband of the Late Grace Kula (nee Sandor). Devoted father of Marion Discorfano and her late husband Allen, Cynthia Kula and the late Michael Kula. Dear father in law of Ruth Ann Kula. Loving grandfather of Jennifer Skovran, Michael Kula, Kristin Bajrami and husband Imrli, and Jayme Higgins and husband Sean. Doting great-grandfather of Mark, Mackenzie, Madison, Ava, and Rylee. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday January 16, 2026, 9:00 am at Di Chiara Funeral Home, 300 Main St., Lodi for a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Francis de Sales Church in Lodi. Entombment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Visitation Thursday January 15, 2026 from 4:00pm- 8:00pm. As part of the "greatest generation," his World War II service is chiseled in the granite of time.
