Fred Lorenzo Obituary

Fred Thomas Lorenzo, 80, of Creekside, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at Scenery Hill Healthcare, Indiana.
He was born in Sagamore on Dec. 16, 1945, the son of the late Francis Lorenzo and Bertha (Matty) Bell.
On March 12, 1995, he married Lori Ann Schepis. They enjoyed 30 years of marriage together.
Fred worked for Sam Jack Drilling for over 30 years, where he eventually became the boss of overseeing the heavy equipment operations. Whether he was running a dozer to level a gas well location or driving truck from one job to the next, he took pride in honest, hard labor. He was reliable, skilled and was never afraid of a challenge, Fred was an excellent mentor to many equipment operators over the years.
Farming was a true calling for Fred; he loved owning his own farm. He enjoyed caring for the land, raising animals, work horses and especially coon dogs. He shared his love of hunting, fishing and coon hunting with his kids and grandchildren, and enjoyed teaching them little things along the way.
Above all, he loved his family and loved to spend time with them.
He was a great storyteller and was happy to share his tales and experiences with anyone he met.
In addition to his wife Lori, he is survived by five children, Christine (George) Mikeska of Creekside, Scott (Debi) Lorenzo of Penn Run, Laura (Dave) Blystone of Creekside, Jennifer (John) Lingenfelter of Creekside and Matthew Lorenzo of Indiana; eight grandchildren, Heather (Sam Adams) Lavan, Regis (Yumiko) Troxell, Keith Troxell, Nathan (Rachel) Lingenfelter, Taylor (Connor) Short, Noah (Brooke Butterworth) Lingenfelter, Elena Lorenzo and Evan Lorenzo; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis A. Lorenzo of Idaho; two sisters, Priscilla Fairman of Creekside and Mary Ellen Rairie of Indiana; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Cecilia Baker and Sandy J. Lorenzo; stepdaughter Carrie Mitchell; and three brothers-in-law, Frank Baker, Jack Fairman and Barry Rairie.
There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
