Fred Martin III, affectionately known as Zakee Wadi, was born on January 15, 1955, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Fred Martin Jr. and Andrea Martin (Watkins). He graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1973 and proudly served in the United States Navy. Upon returning home, he worked with Zenith and Whirlpool, contributing his skills and dedication to both companies.
Fred’s spiritual journey began early. He joined Nazarene Baptist Church at the age of eight years old and served faithfully on the Junior Usher Board. In his later years, he continued his commitment to service as a custodian at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church and as head cleaner at TNT Cleaning Services.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Martin Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lester Sr.
Fred leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of his children: sons, Christopher Mosley (Mystee) of Virginia, Michael Walker Sr. (LaRhonda), and Bryce Chambers; daughters, Ka’meelah Martin Jackson (MyKul) and Kendra Leathers Smith.
His joy was multiplied through his many grandchildren: Chris Jr., Chance, Carrington, Chandler, Kourtlandt, Kyndall, Joshua, Dakita, Daisha, Daveon, Hasheem, Michael Jr., Mykael, Mary Jo, Myauri, Myajiah, Malaysia, Bryson, Donovan, Alexandria, Parker, Jayceon, Knowlyn, Knavy, Madison, Addy, Kynlee, Damar, and Jamari,and future baby Knowledge Zakee. Fred will also be forever missed by his devoted and loving mother, Andrea Watkins; aunt, Gwendolyn Lester; uncle, Rudy Lester of Oakland, CA; and many cousins.
Fred will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering faith, and the deep love he held for his family and community.
