Fred Millard Maxwell, of Whitwell, TN passed away in peace at his home on December 25, 2025, at 79 years of age.

Fred was born in Chattanooga, TN at Erlanger hospital on September 26, 1946 to Clarence E. & Helen L. Maxwell. As a child he was enrolled at H. Clay Evans grammar school finishing at Hemlock elementary. He attended Eastside Jr High, Elbert Long Jr High and graduated from Brainerd High school in 1964.

Fred enlisted in the United States Army winter of 1965. He served overseas in Bavaria, Germany. As an army ranger Staff Sergeant Maxwell saw combat in Vietnam, where he received 4 bronze stars, medal and the purple heart for his actions. Ending his service with the army in 1973, he said, "It was time to come home." He worked for E. Brainerd lumber company, operating heavy equipment until the business closed. Worked for Amazon and was a security guard for Walden Security before finally retiring.

He was an incredible sports fan, attending games with family and close friends. Fred loved life, family, friends and his animals, all while marching to his own drum.

He leaves behind a wife Frankie Maxwell of Whitwell, sisters, Lorann Hollis her husband Mike Hollis, Mary Esther of Florida; children, Joseph Maxwell of Whitwell, Jonathan Maxwell of Whitwell, Tyler Maxwell of Memphis, Shane Maxwell of Mobile, Ala, Melissa Maxwell of Pikeville, Anthony Maxwell of Whitwell, Tonya Maxwell of Jasper, GA, Shana Baty of Chattanooga, Fred Maxwell, Jr. of Whitwell; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Grace, Kendra, Brittany, Christopher, Peyton, Chloe, Hannah, Ava, Henry; 2 great grandchildren, Cade and Clayton.

His family will receive friends 1PM-8PM, Thursday, January 1, 2025, at the funeral home.

Funeral Service 10AM, CST, Friday, January 2, 2025, in the funeral home chapel.

Graveside Service 12PM, CST, Friday, January 2, 2025, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
