Frederick W. Meier affectionately known as Fred, passed away on March 31, 2024 at the age of 86. Fred was born September 11, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late Raymond E. and Eleanor L. Meier (nee Schirm). Fred graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1955. He was a founding and active member of St. Gianna Catholic Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 1/2 years, Nita Meier (nee Ray), they were married November 8, 1980. Fred was employed with Principal Financial Group for 51 years. During his career he enjoyed the camaraderie of his colleagues and clients over the years. He and Nita had fun traveling, they enjoyed antiquing, visiting wineries, classical music, and live theatre. Fred's hobbies included playing golf and stamp collecting.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nita Meier (nee Ray) of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; His two sisters, Marcia (Robert) Hellmuth of Chesterfield, MO and Andrea M. (Charles) Bull of Elsberry, MO; niece, Kristin B. (Patrick) Freeman; five nephews, Robert (Carla) Hellmuth Jr., Thomas (Lynn) Hellmuth, John (Kelly) Hellmuth, Joseph Hellmuth, and Eric C. (Jeanne) Bull; 13 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Edward Meier, mother, Eleanor Louise Meier (nee Schirm).
Fred was a gregarious people person and a fun loving "Uncle Fred." He had a great laugh and lived his life with a smile. He will be missed by his family and friends.
