Fred was born April 23, 1935, in Vancleave to Ruble and Myrtle Moe. He was the second of three boys. Born and raised in Vancleave, he could tell you the history of each road, landmark and person from Vancleave. History, wood-working, and story telling was his passion, this was evident by each encounter you had with him. You were either the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, or he was doing better than he deserved.
Fred married his loving bride, Carol Carnley on August 17, 1957, where they were active members of their church, The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Vancleave. Fred and Carol served as stewards of Zions league, participated in the annual Hee-Haws, Homecomings and worked tirelessly to fundraise for the new church.
Fred’s hobbies included wood-working, he was known for his bee traps and porch swings, riding his tractor, spending summers on the houseboat, riding horses, and being surrounded by his family. His unique way with words always made people laugh, feel loved, and experience a good ole country boys approach to life.
Fred is preceded in death by his beloved bride, Carol Moe of 59 years, his parents, (Ruble and Myrtle Moe), and two brothers, (Robert Moe, Sr. and Johnny Moe).
Fred is survived by his only son, Kenny (Melanie) Moe; two grandchildren, Timmy (Jennie) Moe and Tara (Tommy) Phelan; and seven great- grandchildren, Caroline Moe, James Moe, Quincy Phelan, Ann-Marie Phelan, Colin Moe, Brooks Phelan, and Andrew Moe.
