Fred Lee Nutt

Fred Lee Nutt, age 88, of Blytheville passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015. Born April 9, 1927 in Hickory Flat, Mississippi, he was a resident of Blytheville most of his life. He was a member of North 10th Street Baptist Church, a past member of the American Legion, and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Wilson. He served at the end of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a supervisor for Randall Textron Company for many years. He was an avid golfer, and loved watching the Razorbacks and the Cardinals. His main passion in life though, was music. He was an accomplished musician. He and his family were known as Fred Nutt and The Hope Singers and played music for nursing home and churches throughout the area serving the Lord. He was an accomplished, talented guitar player and also wrote many songs over the years. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Irving Alexander; his wife, Lou Nutt; a son, Gary Nutt; daughter, Laura Cason; brother, David Alexander; sister, Margie Rhoades and his son-in-law Ben Corona. He is survived by his daughter and caregiver Jan Corona of the home; daughter, Deloris & Eldon Jones of West Memphis; son, Kevin Nutt & Lisa of Gosnell; first wife and loving friend Hazel Beck; grandsons, Allen Hall, Corey Corona, Jason Downing, Clint Smith, and Shaun Nutt; granddaughters, DeAnna Smith, Jenna Bailey, and Kristi Green; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Northcutt, of Blytheville; sister-in-law Lucille and David Smith of Huntington, TN; 2 stepsons, Ricky & Jerry Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Max Briley officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be made to North 10th Street Baptist Church.
