Frederick "Fred" Powell, age 90, of Clunette, passed away peacefully after a brief illness of pneumonia on December 13, 2023, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital. He was born on September 7, 1933, in Clunette to Graydon & Mildred (Miller) Powell.

Fred's passion for farming was ingrained in him from an early age. Following his graduation from Atwood High School in 1951 Fred served honorably in the United States Air Force before returning to Atwood to carry on the family legacy. He devoted his life to working on the family farm. Fred tirelessly harvested grain and lovingly tended to sheep and cattle. His commitment to family extended beyond the fields. Fred cherished his loved ones dearly and always ensured they were cared for. He found true joy in spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren creating memories that will forever be treasured. Fred's warm smile and kind heart made him a source of love and strength for those fortunate enough to have known him.

Fred's adventurous spirit led him on many incredible journeys throughout his life. Among his most cherished hobbies was traveling to various destinations across the United States. Whether it was witnessing the grandeur of Glacier National Park or exploring the vibrant streets of San Francisco and New Orleans.

Fred also served his community by serving on several boards throughout the years. He served on the board for Peoples State Bank, Farmers Mutual Ko Relief, Kosciusko REMC and Wabash Valley Power Alliance. He was also a member of the Kosciusko Cattlemen's Association for several years.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include son, John (Louise) Powell of Warsaw; daughters, Julie (Toby) Popenfoose of Warsaw and Becky (Wayne) Dye of Warsaw; six grandchildren: Stacie (Joel) Goon of Warsaw, Meredith (Tim) Miller of Warsaw, Andy (Caroline) Popenfoose of Roanoke, Tim (Kylie) Popenfoose of Warsaw, Kennis Dye of Warsaw, and William Dye of Warsaw.
