Fred K. Prunty

Fred K. Prunty, 80, of Leechburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 in the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System – Oakland, PA.

Born September 5, 1945, he was a son of the late William W. & Dortha (Klingensmith) Prunty.

Fred was a 1966 graduate of Leechburg High School and Lenape Tech. He worked as a manager at Woodline, a woodworking company. Fred also served our country with the United States Army.

Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and cards with his high school friends, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Fay Prunty; his son, Elmer Christy; his granddaughter, Kate-Lynn Prunty O'Shell; his brothers, Paul, William Jr., and Allen Prunty; and his sister, Betty Shipman.

Fred is survived by his daughters, Shelly (Sonny) Frick of Apollo, Shannon L. Prunty of New Bethlehem, and Wanda L. (Brandon) Shaner of West Leechburg; his brother, Gary (Geri) Prunty; his brother-in-law, Jack Shipman; his sisters-in-law, Penny and Myrtle Prunty; his grandchildren, Andrew (Tamara), Kinya, Tiffany, Keirston (Nick), and Mitchel (Kaitlyn); and his great-grandchildren, Isabella, Annalyne, Gibson, Austin, Rowan, Declan, Aedan, Jensen, and Anderson.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Curran Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 300 Market Street, Leechburg, PA 15656 until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jonathan Potter officiating. Following the services, military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Interment at the convenience of the family in Mount Varnum Cemetery.
