Fred Dougles "Doug" Rhoades, 83, of Wills Point, TX, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022.
Fred Dougles Rhoades was born on October 9, 1938, in Forney, TX, to parents Fred Franklin Rhoades and Mildred Wright Rhoades. He was raised in Forney where he attended school. Doug married Kathy Holleman and she preceded him in death in 2002. He met Velvet Woolverton in 2002, and they have been together for the last 20 years. Doug was involved in rodeo as a young man, participating in Bull Riding and Bronc Riding. He worked many different jobs including in concrete for roads and maintenance in assisted living facilities. He enjoyed watching westerns, loved to camp and travel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mildred Rhoades, first wife, Kathy Rhoades, brothers Frank and Gerald Rhoades, and sisters Billie O'Neal and Sue Cook.
Doug is survived by his wife for the last 20 years, Velvet Woolverton of Wills Point, TX; son, R.D. Rhoades and wife Amy of Trinidad, TX; daughter, Shelly Carroll Rhoades of Mabank, TX; stepdaughters, Tonya Worley and husband Danial of Wills Point, TX, and Johnice Land and husband L.J. of Mabank, TX; grandchildren, Bailey Rhoades, Karson Rhoades, Hadley Rhoades, Dakota Worley, Levi Worley, Harmony Worley, Melody Worley, Selah Worley, Nicole Shotwell, Larry Tucker, and Blake Land, and brothers Mack Rhoades, Ricky Don Rhoades, Derwood Rhoades, and sisters Lana Castle, Rhonda Dollar, and Judy Benson and numerous nieces and nephew.
